Unrigged Premier Mallard Pair
Mason Decoy Factory (1896-1924)
Detroit, MI c.1908
18”
Fresh to market pair with no restoration that have never been publicly offered for sale before. Exceptionally rare matched pair in their unused state. Passed down through the original family until purchased by the current consignor in the 1990’s.
The 1908 era model is arguably the last model to truly impart any 'snakey neck' feature before going to a blockier look seen in later years. The drake retains some of the original ‘Premier’ ink stamp. Both have some faintly visible areas of news paper print.
Condition: Unused in strong original condition with NO RESTORATION. Both display minor shelf wear to include some dents, rubs, and paint flaking. Drake has a spot that has discolored and darkened over the left speculum. Tight neck crack on the drake.
Provenance:
Acquired from Mason in 1908
Resided in Ohio Family until 1990’s
Current NY consignor acquired from above
